This will be the first wetland or stream mitigation bank to be available for the Missouri side of the Kansas City metro area. This project will transform approximately 52 acres of floodplain agricultural land into a functioning wetland mitigation site. In addition, 13 acres of land will be planted to expand the riparian corridor of a major stream and 15 acres of existing riparian corridor will be rehabilitated.
Upon approval, the Southwestern Central Plains Wetland & Stream Mitigation Bank will eventually contain more than 42 wetland credits and more than 54 stream credits.
The proposed service area of this bank will include virtually all of Jackson, Ray, Lafayette, Saline and Pettis counties as well as parts of Clay, Cass, Johnson, Benton, Morgan, Moniteau, Cooper, Chariton, Carroll, Clinton and Caldwell counties.
This bank is expected to be approved in 2007. Credits will be available at published rates for 0.1 through 5.0 acre purchases. Discounted rates apply for larger purchases. Contact Mr. Shane Staten at 314-434-1550 for more information.
