Terra Technologies performed a series of wetland and stream Jurisdictional Assessments on approximately 2,500 acres (more than four square miles) of properties held in Clay County. Because the owner is proposing to eventually develop the sites, they desired to know the locations of onsite wetlands and streams as well as possible locations for mitigation projects in advance of any impacts.
Most of this area consisted of agricultural land in the Missouri River floodplain, but there were also large amounts of forested wetlands and pasture ground within the project sites. Although the agricultural levees have reduced the hydrologic influence of the Missouri River on these properties, the historically hydric soils and the influence of the river floodplain still have a profound influence of the subject parcels. Because most of the site was in agricultural production, Terra Technologies scientists relied on their knowledge of hydric soils and secondary indicators of wetland hydrology to determine the locations of any farmed wetlands.
All three Terra Technologies offices collaborated to produce the documents necessary to make application to the appropriate governmental agencies. |
