Gasconade County, Missouri
Client:
HDR Engineering
Terra Technologies designed an off-site third party wetland mitigation site for a client of HDR. This wetland restoration design allowed the client to receive their Clean Water Act Section 404 and 401 permits from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
Water flowing through a small drainage channel will be captured and dispersed across the adjacent forested land through a series of shallow pools enhanced with microtopography. Additionally, the dense overstory of young early successional trees will be thinned to allow for the planting of additional species that will drastically increase the diversity of woody species on the site. Herbaceous diversity will be enhanced through seeding and the planting of deep cell plugs throughout the project site.
After completion, the wetland restoration site will be more than sixteen acres in size and will include forested, scrub-shrub and herbaceous wetlands as well as an expanded riparian corridor.
Construction of this project began in late 2006. |
