Gasconade County, Missouri
Client:
HDR Engineering
Terra Technologies designed, built and is monitoring an off-site third party wetland mitigation site for a client of HDR Engineering. This wetland and stream mitigation site allowed the client to receive their Clean Water Act Section 404 and 401 permits from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
Water flowing through a small drainage channel has been captured and dispersed across the adjacent forested and fallow pasture land through a series of shallow pools enhanced with microtopography. Additionally, the dense overstory of young early successional trees was thinned to allow for the planting of additional species. Herbaceous diversity has been enhanced through seeding and the planting of deep cell plugs throughout the project site.
The wetland and riparian restoration site is more than sixteen acres in size and includes forested, scrub-shrub and herbaceous wetlands as well as an expanded riparian corridor.
Construction of this project began in late 2006. |
