Terra Technologies has successfully obtained an Approved Jurisdictional Determination (AJD) for the I-470 and Raytown Road Excess Flow Holding Basin project in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri. Craig Gump, Terrestrial Ecologist with the firm, served as project manager.
In November 2010, the firm completed a jurisdictional assessment (JA) of potential waters of the United States on the property, which was a former wastewater lagoon parcel owned by the City of Kansas City, Missouri. The JA Report identified a total of 10.64 acres of potentially jurisdictional wetlands. The JA Report submitted by the firm contended that 9.95 acres of the wetlands were not jurisdictional waters of the United States as they were either within waste treatment lagoons designed to meet the requirements of the Clean Water Act (CWA) or they were isolated without any connection to jurisdictional waters of the US. The January 2011 AJD issued by the United States Army Corps of Engineers Regulatory Division Kansas City District concurred with the firm’s assessment, and the 9.95 acres of isolated and lagoon wetlands were determined to be non-jurisdictional and exempt from regulation under Sections 404 & 401 of the CWA. Terra Tech is further assisting the owner in obtaining Section 404 & 401 Permits and other environmental due diligence clearances for the project. The project is scheduled to begin construction in 2012.
