Press Release:

Scientists Receive Nationwide Permit 14 Permit for Platte County Road Project

September 12, 2011

An existing stream crossing on North Cross Road is undersized resulting in roadway flooding during large precipitation events. Civil engineers retained by Platte County designed a replacement bridge with abutments to facilitate improved conveyance of stream conveyance. Although the US Army Corps of Engineers typically authorizes the replacement of bridges and culverts under Clean Water Act Section 404 Nationwide Permit 14, requirements by the State of Missouri Department of Natural Resources Water Pollution Control Branch regulate additional requirements for such projects under Clean Water Act Section 401 regulations.

In order to dual qualify for dual certification, improvements for the North Cross Road project were limited to 50-feet upstream and downstream from the bridge.

For more information about regional and general conditions of Clean Water Act Section 404 Nationwide Permit 14 and designated conditions of State of Missouri 401 certifications, contact your local office of Terra Technologies.
