Terra Technologies and Flick Seed Company have successfully completed Clean Water Act permitting for the 76 th Street Roadway Improvements Project in Kansas City, Missouri.
In October 2010 the companies completed a jurisdictional assessment of potential waters of the United States within the limits of the proposed roadway project and submitted the findings to the Kansas City District of the US Army Corps of Engineers Regulatory Division for an Approved Jurisdictional Determination (AJD). The December 2010 AJD identified 1.01 acres of palustrine emergent wetlands, 0.03 acre of palustrine forested wetlands, 237 linear feet of perennial stream channel, 749 linear feet of intermittent stream channel, and 57 linear feet of ephemeral stream channel within the project boundary. As project impacts exceeded a total of 0.50 acre, an Individual Section 404/401 Permit was required. After a Public Notice was circulated, the companies assisted the owner in responding to substantive Public Comments received and provided site alternatives that documented measures for avoidance and minimization during project design. The companies are further assisting Kansas City, Missouri in satisfying mitigation requirements by obtaining bids for mitigation credits. The project is scheduled to begin construction in the summer of 2011. |
