David Flick, Principal and Founder, announces the firm has successfully obtained a five-year extension on the Clean Water Act Section 404 Permit for The Reserves Residential Development in Kansas City, Clay County, Missouri.
An Individual Permit was originally issued for the project in August of 2007. However, due to the down-turn in the residential housing market, development activity was initiated but not completed at the site. The Individual Permit Extension will allow the property owner five more years to complete site construction and the permitted impacts to jurisdictional waters of the United States.
A condition of the permit extension required the owner to complete on-site mitigation for unavoidable impacts to jurisdictional waters of the United States. Terra Technologies designed a mitigation plan that consisted of enhancement of 1.15 acres of existing wetlands by chemically removing invasive species and planting a diverse mix of native species of herbaceous and woody vegetation, restoration of 4.43 acres of riparian corridor by planting a diverse mix of native trees and shrubs, and preservation of an additional 2.66 acres of riparian corridor. A conservation easement held by the Midwest Mitigation Oversight Association was recorded on the mitigation parcel to provide legal protection in perpetuity. To find out more about the 404 permitting process and/or compensatory mitigation please contact your local Terra Technologies office.
