Terra Technologies, in conjunction with Swallow Tail LLC, announces a Public Notice issued by the Kansas City District of the US Army Corps of Engineers for the proposed operation of the Clear Fork Wetland and Stream Mitigation Bank in Johnson County, Missouri.
Construction on this 250 acre restoration project began in 2009 and will be completed in 2010. It provides high quality wetland and stream mitigation credits for sale within the Central Plains/Blackwater/Lamine Ecological Drainage Unit in Missouri. No less than 100 species of prairie grasses, wildflowers, wetland plants, trees and shrubs were planted on the parcel in 2009. Scientists with Terra Technologies are monitoring ecological enhancements at the site, which include:
- Creation of 8.59 acres of Forested Wetlands
- Creation of 24.30 acres of Herbaceous Wetlands
- Creation of 28.04 acres of Scrub-Shrub Wetlands
- Creation of 21.57 acres of Bottomland Prairie Wetlands
- Restoration of 65.93 acres of Riparian Corridor
- Enhancement of 0.11 acres of Existing Forested Wetlands
- Enhancement of 37.01 acres of Existing Upland Buffer
- Enhancement of 52.92 acres of Existing Riparian Corridor
- Rehabilitation of 8.92 acres of Existing Herbaceous Farmed Wetlands
- Rehabilitation of 0.07 acres of Existing Scrub-Shrub Wetlands
