Terra Technologies submits 2012 NWP Public Comments
Terra Technologies submitted public comments today to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers regarding the 2012 renewal of the Clean Water Act Section 404 Nationwide Permits (NWP). These general permits are used for smaller projects that typically impact less than one half acre of wetlands or less than 300 linear feet of stream channel. Renewal of these permits every five years provides the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers the ability to adjust the permits as they see fit after taking public comments into account. Projects permitted using Nationwide Permits must be similar in nature, cause only minimal adverse environmental effects when performed separately, and cause only minimal cumulative adverse effect on the aquatic environment.
Terra Technologies is very familiar with the Nationwide Permits because of our experience assisting clients through the Clean Water Act Section 404 and 401 permitting process. This expertise allowed us to craft comments that spoke to the experience of our clients and offered suggestions about how to optimize the proposed permits for the benefit of the regulated public.
