Remedial Actions are performed to address impacted soil and groundwater. Remediation strategies are developed using deep critical thinking skills: considering the issues from multiple perspectives. Remedial or Corrective Action Plans are developed and implemented with a sound technical basis to obtain regulatory compliance while maintaining fiscal sense.
Terra Technologies was the first and only to date to successfully obtain a permit from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources to inject hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) to remediate impacted soil and groundwater at a Leaking Underground Storage Tank Site. The H2O2 provides the dual benefit of oxidizing the petroleum hydrocarbon constituents and providing oxygen to naturally occurring microorganisms to reduce the petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations to acceptable levels. Several standard remedial approaches were utilized (pump-and-treat, etc.) without measurable success. After only 7 months, petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations have dropped significantly in the two most impacted wells from 50 to 0.7 ppm in one well and from 5,000 to 7 ppm in another - an average reduction of 99%.
Terra Technologies engineers and scientists are capable of utilizing several techniques for environmental remediation, including but not limited to:
- Semipermeable membranes
- HRC/ORC
- Encapsulation
- Cut-off walls
